About Darius Himes

November 13th, 2007

Darius Himes was the founding editor of photo-eye Booklist, a quarterly magazine devoted to photography books, from 2002-2007. He is a founding member of Radius Books, a non-profit, Santa Fe-based organization created in 2007 that publishes books on the visual arts, where he works as an editor. He is also a lecturer, consudhltant, educator and writer, having contributed to Blind Spot, Bookforum, BOMB, PDN, and American Photo. He earned his BFA in Photography from Arizona State University and a Master of Arts in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College and actively pursues his own photographic image-making. Himes is considered an authority on photobooks and is a sought-after lecturer and writer on the topic. It was during his time at photo-eye as the editor of their quarterly magazine that his deep love for both photography and books found the ultimate expression: in a journal dedicated to the marriage of these two arts. Himes regularly attends portfolio review events around the country, including Review Santa Fe, photoLucida in Portland, and FotoFest in Houston, among others.
